  • How have you communicated learning goals to teachers and students?

At the start of each lesson I would write down the objectives for that particular lesson. I would then find out student’s knowledge on the topic through questioning. I would then explain the concepts through PowerPoint presentations, videos, note taking and examples. Student’s would then be asked to answer questions or complete tasks related to the objectives. Finally I would conclude the lesson through questioning the student’s on the objectives and re-enforcing their understanding of the key concepts.  

 

  • In what ways have you collected evidence to make judgements on student’s learning?

Through my teaching at Helensvale State High School I used questioning at the beginning, during and after lessons to determine student’s knowledge and understanding of the topic. I used small answer quizzes and multiple choice questions to quickly test students understanding of the material. I monitored student’s work whilst they were answering questions within class time. Finally I issued homework and regularly checked the student’s answers and went through the answers in class. This allowed me to accurately assess student’s knowledge and understanding of the material.

 

  • How do you provide feedback to students on their learning?

I would regularly mark student’s homework and provide feedback on how they could improve. I would go over the answers within class time so that each student would have a clear indication of what was required. Within class time I would check student’s work off before they could leave. This encouraged student’s to work hard and gave them instant feedback on their work.
